Harriet Morris - Memorable Speech Writer

Making a speech can be a nerve-wracking experience, so why make it tougher by trying to write it yourself?

A well-crafted speech that expresses what you want to say gives you a solid foundation of confidence to build on for delivering it.

The right words can entertain, motivate and inspire, persuade or move your audience - depending on your purpose. The best speeches make your audience think and want to tell others about what they've heard when they get home.

Why Harriet Morris?

* I stay true to your ideas

Your speech will have the most impact if you actually believe in what you're saying. It's very important to me to understand not only the ideas that you want to convey, but your overall purpose of the speech and how you want people to feel when you sit down at the end. My job is to take all of these elements and craft the right words to express them.

* I help you fill in the blanks

Before I start to create your speech, we talk or e-mail each other and discuss the project. Often I find that at this stage I become an ideas springboard: by getting my clients to clarify what they mean for example, they improve on or add to the original concepts. This is definitely one of the most satisfying aspects of the work for me personally.

* I don't just write the speech

You will receive your speech in full text version.

Also included is

- The Excellent Speech Maker's Guide - a highly practical, step-by-step document leading you through preparing to deliver your presentation.

- a set of cue cards, so you can practise presenting without reading verbatim from the script.

* Because it's about more than the words

One of my main interests when it comes to public speaking is how to really engage the audience. We've all sat through dull speeches that we forget the moment we leave the room. My aim is to make your speech memorable and get people to think. To this end, I don't just consider the words. Depending on what you are comfortable with, I suggest visuals, props, music and other forms of non-verbal communication

* Presenting is my passion

Speechwriting brings my two passions of writing and presenting together. As well as having over six years professional copywriting experience, I teach presentation skills for business.

I am a member of Toastmasters International, the world's biggest organisation for developing presentation skills.

Previous to this, I spent over a decade as a secondary school and special needs teacher (PGCE). This was my creative training ground – teaching dry and uninspiring subjects to unfocused, demotivated and emotionally-challenged youngsters allowed me to develop a whole arsenal of creative communication strategies. They didn't always work with my pupils, but I find that they are very effective in the work that I do now.

What Does It Cost?

Fees vary (depending on the length of the speech) and start at £1000.
